Soccer Playoffs: Final Four Girls' Teams to be Determined Today

A hot team will play No. 1 Corona del Mar as Division 1 features South County teams against the Trinity League. Capo Valley among the boys still playing.

Santa Margarita posted its fifth consecutive shutout and eighth in nine games as the Eagles advanced to the southern Section quarterfinals in girls' soccer playoffs.

With its 3-0 second-round victory over Capistrano Valley behind Sam Trenary's two goals, Santa Margarita won the opportunity to play at Estancia High on Friday against top-seeded Corona del Mar with the opprtunity to go to the semifinals.

Bryce Ziemer also scored for hte Eagles, and Chelsea Carey and Taylor Wolf combined for 12 saves in the shutout.

Other games today in Girls' Division 1 will be fourth-seeded Aliso Niguel at Mater Dei; Orange Lutheran at third-seeded Dana Hills; and second-seeded San Clemente at North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake.

In boys' soccer, Capistrano Valley is still alive in Division 2 following a 4-0 quarterfinal victory over Indio. Dylan Browning scored twice for the Cougars, who play at Riverside La Sierra in a semifinal on Tuesday. La Sierra scored a 1-0 upset of top-seeded Claremont.

In Division 1, fourth-seeded San Clemente was eliminated by Ventura on penalty kicks, 4-3, after being tied in regulation, 1-1. That game was at Ventura.

Los Alamitos was ousted by second-seeded Long Beach Millikan, 2-0.
