Fun With Chalk: Parking Lot Full of Art

About three dozen pieces of artwork are in the parking lot of the community center, but be careful where you step.

Fun With Chalk is running in conjunction with the Relay For Life for the first time, and the chalk art festival is holding its own for aesthetic value.

About three dozen pieces of art were begun Saturday in the parking lot of the Bell Tower Regional Community Center, turning it into a kaleidoscope of color.

The second and final day of the festival is today. It ends at 4 p.m., a couple hours before the Summer Concert Series begins in Central Park with World Tour, a rock anthem cover band.

Disney characters, superheroes, movie stars and old masters paintings are among the works being worked into the asphalt of the parking lot. Come Monday, tire tracks figure to turn the artwork to urban grunge.

But until then, it's an ideal time for residents and art lovers to check out the pieces. There is also a children's workshop.
