Growing Pains: Volunteers Needed for Rancho Santa Margarita's 5K Run

A last minute logistics problem has left event organizers with too few volunteers to register participants.

The Hyundai Hope on Wheels 5K Race & Walk, benefitting pediatric cancer research and the local CHOC Children’s this Labor Day, is in need of volunteers after getting stung by a last-minute logistics problem.

Event organizers are in need of people to process sign-ups the morning of the race and are looking for any person who can work between the hours of 5:30-9:30 a.m. to help get participants registered for the race. They prefer volunteers arrive by 5:30, but won't turn anyone away if arriving later.

Volunteers are also encouraged to help following the race at 9:30 a.m. for the Festival of Life, where there will be face painting, carnival games, activities and food. Those who are interested can contact Emily Gilbert at (903) 348-2190  for more information or simply show up at the Volunteer Check-In table, located on La Miranda at 5:30 a.m. the day of the race.

The Hope on Wheels 5K Race and Walk will be one of the first stops on the Hyundai Drive 4 Hope tour, which launched this month and features Hyundai’s Tucson Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle. Over the course of the month, the Tucson will travel more than 4,500 miles in support of National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, visiting hospitals, donating grants, and collecting handprints and stories from children battling cancer.
