Slideshow: Relay For Life Volunteers Begin 24-Hour Journey

Hundreds of volunteers begin 24-hour journey to raise funds for American Cancer Society. Here's pictures of many of them.

The Relay For Life to benefit the American Cancer Society got under way on Saturday with cancer survivors taking the first lap around Rancho Santa Margarita's Central Park. After that, many more who have supported the noble cause got underway.

Some ran, some were on skateboards, a couple were dressed like a hot dog and mustard. Relish the fact that they have raised at least $40,674.18. Every 18 pennies count.

The event continues through Saturday, including a G-rated movie beginning at 10 p.m., and finishes Sunday morning, about 9 a.m.  The public is encouraged to attend on Saturday where games, activities, service and food is offered.
