Tour de Cure Kicks Off Campaign in RSM

Cinépolis plays host to the event, sponsored by the American Diabetes Assn.

By Martin Henderson

Bicyclists and volunteers interested in the cure for diabetes showed up at Cinépolis Luxury Theater on Saturday to generate some buzz about its Tour de Cure fundraiser in November.

About 75 people showed up, many of them interested in being captain of a team of riders who will participate in the event that begins in Rancho Santa Margarita on November 2.

The event manager is Maggie MacCubbin, who can be reached at mmaccubbin@diabetes.org, or 714-662-7940 ext. 7476.

There will be various courses for various levels of skill and endurance, including a "family friendly" course.

The road route options include a metric century, 25 mile ride and “beginner” ride of 8 miles.  The Mountain portion has options of a 10 or 20 mile stint through the park. If you’re feeling particularly adventurous, you can tackle both in one day! Take a 25 miles road ride and a 10 mile mountain ride all from the same start line.
