Turn the Tables on Cops at Fundraiser for Special Olympics

The Top-A-Cop fundraiser Wednesday at Wood Ranch BBQ & Grill gives new meaning to the words "to protect and to serve."

If you've ever wanted to boss the cops, this week is your chance to turn the tables.

Rancho Santa Margarita's new chief of police services, Lt. Brian Schmutz, and other Orange County deputy sheriffs from the city will be the "celebrity" waiters during the Tip-A-Cop event to benefit Special Olympics.

The fundraiser Wednesday is from 5-9 p.m. at the in Rancho Santa Margarita.

"Some members of the city council have already said they're going to give me a hard time," Schmutz said. "This is a great cause and a great opportunity to get out in the community. Taking orders is a small price to pay to benefit Special Olympics."
