Local Cops Raise Thousands for Special Olympics

Lt. Brian Schmutz gets help from his colleagues in Tip-A-Cop fundraiser at Wood Ranch Barbecue and Grill.

Local deputies from the Orange County Sheriff Dept.—who are in the business of protecting and serving—were taking orders instead of giving them and taking tickets instead of handing them out. It was all part of the Tip-A-Cop fundraiser last week to benefit Special Olympics of Southern California.

Local cops, including Lt. Brian Schmutz—the chief of police services for Rancho Santa Margarita—took part in the event on Aug. 24 at the .
