A look at what's going down and coming up for Rancho Santa Margarita and residents of the surrounding area.
• The holiday toy drive by UFC Gym RSM to benefit the Spark of Love holiday toy drive features Teddy Bear Tuesday. Bring an unwrapped Teddy Bear between 6 a.m. and 9 p.m. Don't stop at teddy bears. All the donated toys will be picked up on Dec. 21 at noon by members of the Fire Station 45. Click here for more info.
• Wednesday is a city council meeting that should be eventful. The council will reorganize its responsibilities for 2014. That means the group will consider appointing a new mayor and mayor pro tem among themselves. Tony Beall has completed his third consecutive one-year term. Does he make it four in a row? Our guess is three's the charm. The meeting begins at 7 p.m.
• Mizu Sushi Bar and Grill will have its ribbon cutting on Thursday, 5 p.m. Check out Rancho Santa Margarita's newest restaurant. It's in the building previously occupied by Ballpark Pizza Team.
• Entertainment options this week include the Coach House, which features Dishwalla ($15) on Thursday and the Robin Zander Band ($30) on Friday. Zander was the front man for Cheap Trick.
• If music isn't your cup of cider, there's a free comedy show with four "international touring headline comedians." It's in Dana Point. Click here for details.
• Need a kiss and/or cookies? Boy Scout Troop 727 in Rancho Santa Margarita is selling mistletoe and baked goods over the weekend at Pavilions.
• Feliz Navidad. Mi Casa Mexican Restaurant is offering a brunch with Santa Claus on Sunday from noon to 3 p.m. Click here for more info.
