A look at what's going down and coming up for Rancho Santa Margarita and residents of the surrounding area.

• Monday the residents of Robinson Ranch are invited to the Bell Tower Regional Community Center to get an update on recent break-ins—also referred to as crime trends—in the neighborhood and what they can to help protect themselves, their homes and their cars. It begins at 6:30 p.m.

• If you're a resident of SAMLARC, it will have a special meeting Tuesday, 7 a.m., in the Fiesta Room of the Beach Club.

• If you're the parent of a special needs child, receive free parent training Tuesday, 7-8:30 p.m., in the Capistrano Unified school board meeting room, 33122 Valle Road in San Juan Capistrano. The presentation, How to Organize Your Child’s IEP Binder,” is hosted the Special Education Community Advisory Committee. All participants receive a three-ring binder and instructions to guide them in maintaining their child’s special education records. Adults only please.  For additional information regarding this training please contact the CAC at CapoCAC@gmail.com.

• Saddleback Valley Toastmasters will meet Tuesday night at Carrows in Laguna Hills. Click here for more details

• Stonecreek Christian Church on Thursday, 6-9 p.m., will present its 12th annual Kids Carnival Extravaganza, providing a fun, safe environment for children and parents to enjoy the Halloween holiday. The evening begins with kids going car-to-car for candy treats. Afterward, there are rides and games, along with a chili cook-off. Come in costume to enjoy the fun. Click here for more details. It's near the corner of Banderas and Empresa.

• Looking for a job, it may be worth it to you to head to Irvine to learn what it takes to get hired in this environment. Click here for more details

• Can you believe the high school football season is almost over? It is if you're not headed to the playoffs. Santa Margarita, after its stunning upset of Mater Dei, hopes to take another step toward extending its season when it plays host to Orange Lutheran on Friday. Other local teams with must-win agendas include Tesoro at San Clemente, and Trabuco Hills playing host to Mission Viejo.

• Appropriately, a band used to wearing costumes will play The Coach House on Halloween. Dread Zeppelin will be the featured performer on Thursday, followed on Friday by the Journey tribute band Don't Stop Believing, and on Saturday by Elvis' daughter, Lisa Marie Presley. Tickets are $15, $15 and $20, respectively.
