Did you know this was a thing?

Apparently we have street sweeping in this town.  They come on the first and third Monday of the month.  I've lived here 15 years and I think I was here 9 or 10 years before I knew about this and the schedule.  In all that time I've had maybe 4 thorough street sweeps done because all my neighbors think the curb space in my cul-de-sac is a parking lot so they don't have to leave their extra cars in front of their own houses.  If the city wants to raise some money and put some of those extra deputies to work, how about you post the street sweeping schedule on signs with a 'do not park...' and then follow them around writing tickets?  That way you make money AND we have clean streets.

Did you know there is an 11pm curfew for kids under 18?  I was here 14 years before we found that out when the deputies pulled my son and his friends out of the car where they were talking late one night, I was going through a divorce and he was out talking with his friends whose parents had also gone through them.  It was about 48 degrees out, the deputies kept the boys sitting in the cold for about 45 minutes while they illegally searched the car, scaring them to death and nearly giving them hypothermia, we had to get my son in the shower to warm him up when he got home his skin was so cold.  None of them had jackets.  I have never once seen it posted or in any city bulletin or anywhere else, so I'm not sure how we're supposed to know that.  It isn't necessarily a bad thing, but how are we supposed to know?

Did you know you can't park in a school parking lot after school hours?  Neither did I until the aforementioned incident, apparently that was the deputies probable cause to search the vehicle.  I checked the school, there is no posted parking restrictions, it is a public school that we all pay for, therefore public property, people park there for events all the time going on at  the local parks.  When I tried to speak to the Sargent who was in charge during that shift, he started yelling at me how it was common sense, I'm not sure why that would be.  I asked him what he would do if his computer started throwing RAM parity errors, he said he didn't know, i said "it is common sense".  Well, all these things are common sense to someone WHO ALREADY KNOWS THEM.

Did you know the legal notice signs at the Canada dog and skate park were rewritten 7 years ago but they haven't updated the signs?  I talked to the city council, SAMLARC and public works about it.  They all pointed fingers to each other and the old signs remain and the deputies continue to write tickets based on the posted, incorrect information.
