Negative isn't the same thing as realistic.

Brainwashed, perhaps you're praying to the wrong God or not praying at all? Or maybe you mock whatRead More you fear (or don't understand)? Since you seem to see yourself as all-knowing (others might say a know-it-all), can you say definitively praying accomplishes nothing? Or are you just saying in your life? Most people don't pray as if it to do so is the equivalent playing the lottery (if I play enough, I will eventually win/get what I want!). Praying is a personal conversation with God, and not all prayers are answered. And no doubt you've prayed and felt your prayers went unanswered. Get in line...and realize going to God in your need or suffering is not like going to see the wizard of Oz. While I am confident none of this will change your mind, am curious what happened to you that causes you to mock/insult or verbally attack strangers who have their own beliefs that are not yours?

Mr. or Ms. D. Jude - If by karma you mean that he will have a wonderful afterlife because of the wayRead More he lived this life, then I would agree with you; Col. Foley was the epitome of an officer and a gentleman and a heckuva water man. If you mean something derisive, then you never met him, and I will pray that one day you will rest in peace.

If you ever get a chance to watch "Hail Sid Caesar!", it's a fantastic documentary. I'veRead More always found it fascinating that modern day comics continue to speak of Sid in awe and admiration.
Dave February 13, 2014 at 07:27 am
No question Caesar was a genius but he also had a great eye for talent, hand picking his co-stars onRead More "Show" and writers, Mel Brooks, an 18 year old Woody Allen, Neil Simon, Larry Gelbart and Carl Reiner to name some of the most prominent. I had the great privilege and pleasure to see Mr Caesar give a two hour talk in the board room of the Screen Actor's Guild on Wilshire just east of the La Brea Tarpits about 8 years ago. Although the once tall and strapping Caesar had become shrunken and bent with age, once he was seated on the dais with moderator Joe Mantegna, you'd have thought you had been transported back to 1954 as Caesar came alive telling us of his memories working with all these great talents while tossing out some of his best bits- the foreign language imitations being as fresh and funny as they were on "Show of Shows". It was a night I won't soon forget and I am so glad I was able to see him in this small and intimate room. Rest in Peace, Sid. We won't be seeing your like again any time soon.

Aside from all there problems of recent times they touched so many lives with the good news messageRead More of our living Christ. What is money, though, really? Did someone see an actual exchange taking place? Since all of us areRead More related, one way or another, including animals (since apparently a Chimpanzee's DNA is 98% identical to a human's) and humans are not a majority on earth, what constitutes money? Wouldn't that be that which is most valuable to the majority? Therefore.... air? Water? Then how is it quantified? What the heck is a dollar? Just saying..... not that I have a solution to the problem.

I worked with Kurt at Lan. He always had a smile for you or would be willing to share/listen to aRead More good story/joke. We shared a love for music and would often share our favorites with each other or have discusssions of different bands each of us liked. Kurt was the guy who would give you the shirt off of his back, for sure. I know this because he did it for me once, and I was floored. I guess what I am feeling more than loss at this time is regret. Regret of the fact that I only knew a fraction of the man he truly was, and that saddens me. I wish we could have known each other better than we did, though I am proud to have known him as a colleague. I will always remember this special person who I briefly called my friend.
James Eric O'Hearn July 17, 2013 at 11:18 pm
I have known Kurt since the mid-90's when we first worked together at ARINC in Newport Beach. I'llRead More never forget the lively volleyball games we had down on the sand during lunch. We still got together later when I worked at QDS in Irvine and he was working at Unisys to play basketball on the outside court at QDS (he was ALWAYS on my team 'cause that is a smart move and Kurt always helped you make good choices). Kurt was a kind and gentle soul. You could not help but like him from the first time you met him. He was very intelligent and modest: not a combination you come across often these days. Kurt was a strong man but he went about his business in a positive and uplifting fashion. I remember that he and I both liked to use the surfer term "dude" when referring to one another. A disagreement would never escalate beyond anything more serious than "Ah, dude!" or "Hey dude!" We had been exchanging emails for the last couple of years and kind of keeping in touch via LinkedIn. I had a chance to speak with him over the phone earlier this year and I was trying to get him to come to a weekly lunch gathering I organize but things didn't work out. Please keep his wife Lana and their children in your prayers. I know that Kurt would really appreciate that. I could say that it was a wonderful thing to have known and loved you Kurt but that would mean that our friendship is at an end but it isn't...I will always remember you dude and the time we spent working and playing together.

RIP Mr. Rafferty. Far to young to loose you and we must work harder to find a cure for cancer.

Scott Raftery was a delight to work with. He did not insulate himself in a press box, but would meetRead More the people and athletes he worked for. He was also a pro, and really "got it." At one of his first softball finals as an administrator, a coach from El Modena acted like a jerk, totally didn't get the "Pursuing victory with honor" mantra of the CIF; as I recall the incident, Raftery fired off a letter to inform him and his principal that if he didn't clean up his act, he wouldn't be allowed back. The Southern Section office lost a champion.

I just hope and pray that the ”mother” tells his daughter what a great man her fatherRead More was.
ms.sc. July 21, 2012 at 10:31 pm

Mission Viejo Mom July 23, 2012 at 04:31 pm
It is important that the mother of his child understand that it is in the best interest of herRead More daughter to say only good, loving and beautiful things about her dad. After all, this child is half him. To insult the dad is to insult part of the child. Anything said should make the child feel warm and loved, not bad inside. As for the custody/visitation issues, if they were not married, he would initially have no parental rights until they are granted by a court, regardless of whether or not he is named as the father on her birth certificate. That's how it works in California. Men who father children out of wedlock may face an uphill battle in contentious relationships. We do not know where they might have been in the process, and it's not really any of our business as well. I just hope she does right by this child.

Mike, your office right next to mine still sits empty, but I try to fill the space you have in myRead More heart with fond memories, and that is very easy to do. You were so possitive and funny even during the most challenging of times. I miss your story telling most of all, I really miss the time we spent laughing. You were a powerful example of what it means to be full of the Lords joy. I have a clear picture in my mind of you in Heaven, with Jesus, the Angels and the Saints of old, telling your stories of all the fond memories you have of all of your friends, but especially the memories that you have of Diane, Megan and Jack. It's no secret, how much you adored that beautiful family of yours. I will continue to pray that God Blesses them in ways that they never thought possible, and that He will do exceedingly more than they could ever hope or ask. I know that's what you would want. Heaven is so lucky now that you reside there. Until we meet again! Trish Hart

To all who knew and loved my brother Mike, thank you for keeping his memory alive by honoring him inRead More your words and acts of kindness towards his family. This past weekend, our family celebrated his life here in Erie, and as usual we were amazed at the friends who came to pay tribute to this wonderful individual. Many had known him from the Class of 1972 at Strong Vincent High School and had not seen him in many years but felt compelled to tell us their stories which gave us even more insight into the impact of a life well-lived.. Obviously, this horrific disease cannot obliterare the memories of our loved ones or destroy love, kindness and generosity. With immense gratitude, Anna Dalessio Iverson ( Lil sis)
