The Academic Performance Index, commonly referred to as an API score, of 905 is well above the state average 768 for 2009-10. Students scored 82 percent proficiency in English/language arts, 75 percent in math (excluding algebra), 51 percent in algebra, 79 percent in history/social science, and 89 percent in science. With the exception of algebra, the school performed at least 27 points higher than the state average for middle schools. The state average in algebra was 47 percent.

Las Flores School is divided into an elementary and middle school that share the same campus. It is located onMore Antonio Parkway between Oso and Sable, and it is part of the Capistrano Valley Unified School District.

The elementary school -- home of the Cubs -- focuses on student achievement and learning, particularly in the core areas of reading literacy, math, social studies and science.

Technology is a focus and state-of-the-art equipment, including computers, are readily available in classrooms. Las Flores has adopted an Effective Behavior Support Program for all grades in which staff-approved behavior expectations are taught at the beginning of the school year.

The school houses a fee-based preschool and a Special Day Class preschool program.

Las Flores earned an Academic Performance Index, commonly referred to as an API score, of 885 in 2009-10, a drop of 11 points from a year earlier but still well above the state average on a scale to 1000.
