Saddleback focuses on providing a Christian environment for children to develop positive self image, autonomy, and fine motor and communication skills. Opportunities are available for kids to grow cognitively, creatively, socially, emotionally, physically and spiritually.
The school was founded in 1983 and was originally located in Lake Forest on El Toro Road, but moved to its present location in 1988 and reopened a year later. Saddleback has been accredited since 1992 by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), and the school follows guidelines established by the NAEYC and Saddleback College. Sandy Starks is director for the school.

The teachers at Mission Hills follow the California State Standards.
