Tesoro is one of seven public high schools in the Capistrano Valley Unified School District, and at its peak it…More served almost 3,000 students. Tesoro includes an extensive program in academics, including college prep and advanced courses, special education services, athletics and fine and performing arts.
The campus includes specially designed classrooms for physics, advanced math, industrial technology, digital photography, video production, graphic arts and several computer labs.
It operates on a block schedule, meaning students attend only three classes daily, every other day. Once a month students meet with an advisor, who they continue to meet with throughout their high school careers.
Las Flores School is divided into two campuses on the same site --the middle school and the elementary…More school. The school is located on Antonio Parkway between Oso Parkway and Sable.
The middle school -- home of the Bears -- is part of the Capistrano Valley Unified School District and is dedicated to promoting high achievement and well-being. It has previously been named a California Distinguished School.
The school, which has 57 classrooms, has a strong Performance Art program, and its physical fitness options include classes in aerobics and yoga, in addition to a fitness center. The school has participated in Students Run Los Angeles and had 14 students complete the Los Angeles Marathon.
Intervention programs have been established to help at-risk students, including before-school reading and math classes, sixth grade study skills classes, social science literacy classes, a mentoring program, a school counselor and a homework club.
Its students regularly participate in the Spelling Bee, Academic Pentathlon and Destination Imagination.
