Las Flores School is divided into an elementary and middle school that share the same campus. Las Flores has adopted an Effective Behavior Support Program for all grades in which staff-approved behavior expectations are taught at the beginning of the school year.</p> <p>The school houses a fee-based preschool and a Special Day Class preschool program.</p> <p>Las Flores earned an Academic Performance Index, commonly referred to as an API score, of 885 in 2009-10, a drop of 11 points from a year earlier but still well above the state average on a scale to 1000.</p>

The center is adjacent to the Rancho Santa Margarita Town Center neighborhood and is within walking distance of City Hall, the Bell Tower Regional Community Center, Central Park and the Rancho Santa Margarita Library. The backside of the center's main building fronts the Foothill Transportation Corridor (Highway 241), and is easily accessible from the highway (toll road).</p> <p>Santa Margarita Market Place is home to a number of the city's largest retailers, including Lowe's, Big Lots, Staples, PetSmart, Verizon Wireless and Pier 1 Imports.</p> <p>The center boasts a food court with a large patio area that has become one of the most popular meeting places in Rancho Santa Margarita.
