Local Solar Company Launches Program to Pay Homeowners up to $2,500

(Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.) Aug. 15, 2013 – With the vision of creating a strong solar community out of Rancho Santa Margarita, Sullivan Solar Power, a leading Southern California renewable energy company, announced its launch of a citywide Rancho Santa Margarita Solar Program August 15th. The company’s incentive program allows for property owners within the city of Rancho Santa Margarita, and communities of Coto de Caza and Dove Canyon to go solar for no upfront cost and receive cash-back incentives in addition to the state and federal incentives.

Rancho Santa Margarita is no stranger to solar energy. The city is of the second largest solar city Orange County for number of rooftops, falling behind Huntington Beach. Large corporate facilities, such as Kohl’s, have large photovoltaic arrays on their rooftop. Sullivan Solar Power has launched its initiative to transition Rancho Santa Margarita into the strongest solar community in the region.

“The comprehensive solar advocacy program was launched to inspire Rancho Santa Margarita residents to declare energy independence and create a sustainable future for the region,” said Daniel Sullivan, founder and president of Sullivan Solar Power, “Now is the best time to install solar panels, as there has never been an opportunity for Rancho Santa Margarita residents to get paid to go solar before.”

Atypical homeowner in Rancho Santa Margarita will install a solar power system with around 5,000-watts of solar capacity, and can see their monthly electricity bill reduce from $185 to $165.  In addition to immediate cash-flow savings, participating businesses and homeowners receive substantial guaranteed cash-back incentives with the Rancho Santa Margarita Solar Program, up to twice the amount of the rebate offered in the state of California.

The Rancho Santa Margarita Solar Program is modeled similarly to the state program whereby early adopters receive the highest incentives. The program is structured into three phases, and as milestones are reached, incentive amounts will drop by tiered amounts as more capacity is installed. With program incentives currently in phase one, the typical resident who signs up will receive a payment of $2,500.

•                  The first 50,000 watts (10 homes) =       $0.50 per watt up to $2,500

•                  The second 50,000 watts (10 homes) = $0.40 per watt up to $2,000

•                  The next 400,000 watts (80 homes) =    $0.30 per watt up to $1,500

The company led initiative is available to 100 Rancho Santa Margarita, Coto de Caza, and Dove Canyon property owners and will last three months, closing on November 15, 2013. Ninety days after projects are complete, participants will receive incentive payments by check.

To inform Rancho Santa Margarita residents about the new initiative, a one-hour solar program luncheon will take place on Saturday, September 14 at 11 a.m. in the Bell Tower Community Center at 22232 El Paseo, Rancho Santa Margarita CA 92688. The presentation will cover solar technology, rebates and incentives, local case studies and program details.
