A new personal fitness studio will stretch its legs in Antonio Plaza.

Pure Barre on Wednesday night received the OK from the Planning Commission of Rancho Santa Margarita to conduct its unique workout with as many as 25 students per class.

Kerry Vicencia, who said she was a counselor at Santa Margarita Catholic High the last three years while also working at an instructor at a Pure Barre in Anaheim Hills, would be the owner of the business.

She told the commission she fully expected the community to embrace the company's fitness concept.

Pure Barre will be located on the north side of Antonio Plaza in Suite C-150, a 1,927-square foot space previously occupied by Unique Tan. It is located next to Bentley's Flooring and Sake Sushi Restaurant.

According to Vicencia, "Pure Barre is a mix between pilates, yoga and ballet providing a workout that uses isometric exercise and resistance training to work the muscles to fatigue, then stretches them right back out. We use a ballet barre for stability, plus it allows us to work in the most dynamic positions possible, creating resistance from our own body weight to maximize the muscle fatigue and the results."

She said there are 150 studios nationwide with many "in the works" and that "it is a truly a workout that is sweeping the nation."

It will conduct six one-hour classes between 5:30 a.m. and 9:30 p.m. on weekdays, and three between 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on weekends.

"There is a strong love of health and fitness and I know the RSM residents will become addicted to our workout once they see the quick results our classes offer," Vicencia said.

The conditional use permit was approved unanimously.
